THE FLOW

The coastal marine concept for a social lounge area in a 64.000 sq. meter office building was expressed in few words: water, west coast, waves and reuse.

During more than six months we collected blue mussels whenever visiting beaches along the Swedish west coast.

The shape of the shells determines the flowing pattern around eleven mirrors. We don’t sketch in advance, but chose to follow the shapes of nature, not fight them.

Each of the estimated 10.000 shells were put in place by hand, one by one, on site. It took eight long, intense work days to finish the piece, not counting collecting, cleaning, sorting, planning, prepping, packing and transport.
