Frequently Asked Questions

Is Shellman Sea Shell Glue non-toxic?

Yes — it has no toxic fumes and is easy to wash off during application, making it safe to use indoors.

What can I use it on?

It's made for adhering shells to a wooden base, to other shells, or to other organic materials — from the largest shells down to the tiniest details.

Can I use it on metal or plastic?

No — the glue is made specifically for wood and other organic materials, not metal or plastic.

Does it dry clear?

Yes, it dries transparent.

How strong is the bond once it dries?

Once cured, shells sit like a rock — a strong, permanent hold.

How long does it take to dry?

Dry time depends on shell size and glue thickness — anywhere from 30 minutes for smaller shells to 36 hours for very large shells with more glue.

Is it waterproof, or can it be used outdoors?

No — Shellman Sea Shell Glue is intended for indoor use only.

How do I apply it?

Apply while your work lies horizontally, so shells stay in place while the glue sets.

How much glue do I need?

A Starter pack (250ml) plus a 1L Refill will allow you to create approximately 3 frames at 40x50cm size with a frame width of 9cm.

Why choose Shellman Sea Shell Glue?

Most glues used for shell crafting — like epoxy or hot glue — are general-purpose adhesives that often carry fumes and/or toxins you don't want to get on your skin. Shellman's glue is what we use ourselves for nearly every piece we make: non-toxic with no fumes, dries clear, and holds shells like a rock once cured — specifically for shell art.
